Live Sports Broadcasts Made Easy #CES2017

Live sports is by far the most popular local content produced by independent communications service providers, according to surveys and meet-ups produced by Viodi over the years. Producing such content, cost-effectively and with high-quality production value, is the challenge.

Enter JVC with its GY-HM200SP and capturing and streaming of video is much simpler than traditional methods that required multiple boxes and people to operate. As described by Alicia Reed, Direct Sales Manager for JVC Kenwood, in addition to capturing video at resolutions up to 4k, the GY-HM200SP allows graphic overlays of scoreboards or even advertisements. It connects to the optional Sportzcast Scorebot, which automatically adds scoreboard information without camera operator intervention.

It will simultaneously stream up to 1920×1080 HD quality output, via a USB port to an optional Ethernet, WiFi or LTE dongle, as well as record a 4k UHD version to a SDHC/SDXC card (two total). Although the focus is a fast and simple set-up and operation by a single operator, it can be connected as part of a network of cameras with the optional SLIM video switcher. With a list price of $2,795, this could be a great entry camera for an operator just getting into local content production or wishing to expand their local sports coverage.
