No Key, No Problem #CES2014

The Internet of Things doesn’t always mean new things. In the above video, OKIDOKEYS spokesperson Kristin Berry demonstrates OKIDOKEYS’ smartphone/cellphone or RFID-controlled door lock that fits over most existing door locks enabling electronic locking and unlocking of a door. It will provide notifications that a door has opened (e.g. alert that child is home from school) or an alarm if an unauthorized user is attempting to open the door.

It is also possible to send codes to allow visitor access. For those times when you may not want to carry a cell phone, RFID tags are available (e.g. in a card format or via a wrist band). OKIDOKEYS also has options to retrofit gates and garage doors with similar capabilities. The AAA batteries last about a year under typical use and a low-battery indicator lets the homeowner know when they are ready to be replaced.

OKIDOKEYS’ parent company, OpenWays technology group, created the technology for this system, which combines Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE), Near Field Communication (NFC), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Crypto Acoustic Credential (CAC) and OVN (OKIDOKEYS Virtual Network), to allow keyless access to hotel rooms and facilities.

The above video was filmed at CES Unveiled 2014.
