Len comments about the transformation of Silicon Valley (SV) from an engineering to software/web & mobile apps centric hub. Any hope that IoT/M2M/sensor farms/robotics will cause SV to build hardware again? Len says there will be a balance of hardware and software but it will never be as it was in the 1970s to early 1990s.
John says he thinks SV will get stronger as the eco-system from SF to SJ continues to grow. The software design and consumer front end companies are locating in SF and they are creating demand for what SV does best-integrate hardware and software. China will be interesting to watch, and there’ll be plenty of competition, but John thinks that SV will remain as the world’s center of innovative technology.
