The maturation of technology, personalization and the rise of the “selfie” segment are three of the trends that Stuart Sikes, president of Parks Associates, observed at International CES 2014. One thread these trends have in common is the creation of lots of data, whether that data consists of pictures, telemetry, voice or video. And the many end-points represented by the myriad of devices seen at CES need connectivity; the so-called, Internet of Things. Sikes explains that standards for communication among the Internet of Things was a major point of discussion in the Parks Associates’ CONNECTIONS™ Summit at CES.
Standards, particularly in the context of home metadata management, will be a hot topic at Parks Associates’ Smart Energy Summit next month.
