Notice This!

[hidepost] One of the gems mentioned in the Melrose MN, Local Content Workshop was the importance of having a “Notice Release” when filming in public. Dean Mohs, General Manager of diversiCOM/Melrose Telephone came up with a good idea in a conversation after the workshop. He suggested putting the release forms on the back of the tee-shirts worn by the film crew. That might be good, but it still probably makes sense to post a sign at all entrances that says something like the following the text. I have also seen releases on the back of tickets, as part of the “terms”. This text is from page 174 of Thomas Crowell’s book, the Pocket Filmmaker for Lawyers.

Crowell also suggests getting footage of people reading the Notice Release, which has been posted in an open and obvious position. [/hidepost]
