An Independent Entity & E/O Insurance
One of the first things that Crowell states is that a Limited Liability Company is typically set-up to provide a corporate veil for each film project. Based on the comments in the book and subsequent conversations with another attorney, it probably makes sense for independent telcos to be setting up separate LLC’s for their Local Content Production efforts. Some reasons for doing this include:
Errors and Omissions Insurance is something that we have discussed in the past at a real high level and Angela Abshier had reminded people of the importance at the Video Production Crash Course in Las Vegas in April 2007. Crowell’s book emphasizes the importance of it as well. Angela is investigating whether there are economies of scale that can be achieved by pooling Club Viodi members into some sort of Master E & O Insurance plan.
