Sang Kim and Tal Sliwowicz of Tversity talk about transcoding and packaging signals at the home and how they are offering this capability to service providers, in the above video filmed at Parks Associates’ 2011 Connections Conference . What started out as a product for the PC is migrating to home gateway-type boxes and could even find its way into higher-end DSL and Cable modem gateways; taking content from the cloud and from various sources (e.g. hard-drives, PCs, etc.) in the home and translating it into multiple streams at various bit rates and protocols to match the viewer’s screens (e.g. iPads, big screen TVs, etc.).

In the demonstration, Sliwowicz shows two simultaneous transcoded streams; one feeding an iPad and another a 1080p TV. What may be most impressive about the demonstration, however, is when he shows their cloud version of their service and the streaming is via LTE.
