The above video was mixed in real-time (you can see me doing the mixing) using an HS-2000, hand carried studio from datavideo. Thanks to this equipment, I managed to be on both sides of the camera at the same time. In the video, I suggest that I might edit it in post-production, it is obvious that I did not fix my bloopers. I did add a couple of titles in post-production, however. Again, if I had planned ahead, I could have had these titles queued and displayed in real-time.
Datavideo makes the various accessories to feed the HS-2000, including devices like HDMI to HD-SDI converters. HD-SDI is useful for making it easy to accomplish long cable runs between an inexpensive camera and the mixer via low-cost 75 Ohm coaxial cables. The equipment is simple to use; I figured it out without any training and with a minimal amount of having to reference a manual.
Datavideo supplied ViodiTV with a series of products that will allow us to take multiple cameras and computers, mix their outputs in real-time, project and record the Media and Innovations Summit. This type of equipment is perfect for the independent communication service provider that needs to create low-cost fixed and portable production studios, such as what might be found in churches, schools and at live events.
To learn more about how we configured this equipment, come to the upcoming Viodi Local Content Workshop at MTA.
