Andrew Randall of Metaswitch provides a nuanced view of how independent telcos can look at over the top applications.   Randall suggests that providers need to look at separating the pipe from the applications.  He suggests there are three models for over the top; displace, embrace and extend and enable.  Watch the video to see what he means by these three models. 

Simplicity and reliability was the theme of Ryan Tupper’s presentation at IP Possibilities.  In his talk, Tupper described how Innovative Systems consolidates disparate service features, such as unified messaging, on-demand conferencing and IPTV middleware into one box, the APMAX.  In this video interview, Tupper demonstrates a couple of features embedded in the APMAX; one which allows a telco’s CSR to remotely control and monitor a customer’s set-top and another feature which allows one click creation of reports for content providers.  

Bill Albertson of Badger Communications discusses the Solarus VoIP Long distance voice service. He explains how telcos are using this service to lower costs, as well as package voice into profitable bundles.

Australia is moving to a complete fiber to the premise architecture, according to Steve Klein of Allied Telesis.  In this video interview, Klein explains how broadband and IP are central to their plans.  He suggests that with the new administration, the U.S will soon see a national broadband policy that will most likely be centered on broadband and IP.  Watch the video for Steve’s insight as to what this means for service providers. 

Steve Klein of Allied Telesis provides an overview of their product offering in this brief video. He describes their Multi Service Access Platform, which is a carrier-grade IP/Ethernet networking solution that supports copper and fiber infrastructures. Klein explains that the complementary Optical Network Terminal is modular, allowing an operator to add an HPNA home networking solution only as required.
