  • One of Verizon’s suppliers, Wistron, had a display at CES that demonstrated Verizon’s fixed LTE solution that serves as an alternative to DSL and satellite infrastructure for rural areas. With advertised speeds of 12 Mb/s downstream (and reportedly higher in real world conditions, according to one user), Verizon with its LTE offering will compete against the land line properties it sold to other providers years ago. Like FiOS, it uses MoCA for distribution of the signal within the home.

    The LTE Alternative to DSL

    One of Verizon’s suppliers, Wistron, had a display at CES that demonstrated Verizon’s fixed LTE solution that serves as an alternative to DSL and satellite infrastructure for rural areas. With advertised speeds of 12 Mb/s downstream (and reportedly higher in real world conditions, according to one user), Verizon with its LTE offering will compete against the land line properties it sold to other providers years ago. Like FiOS, it uses MoCA for distribution of the signal within the home.
