Hybrid Satellite – Internet Distribution Video

This brief video captures the essence of the Todocast internet video distribution system.  For around $750 per event and 50 cents per user, one can quickly create a live pay per view event that is transmitted via the Internet to user’s desktops.

In this video, Todocast used their satellite uplink to transmit a live signal from the Streaming Media West convention floor to their downlink facility where it was rebroadcast over the Internet.  Todocast is using the Kulabyte encoders for video compression (You can catch a glimpse of the Kulabyte booth in the above video.).  As as aside, Kulabyte will be coming out with a H.264 encoder that compresses 720p resolution to 1.7 Mbs (includes two channels of 48k audio).

This approach allows broadcasting from virtually anywhere and opens up video to niche applications, such as live auctions, equestrian shows and almost anything with a passionate audience.
